There was also a huge gash that we had to pick wood out of. So the scar...being on my face...under one eye...is of concern. My plastic surgeon recommended the gel, but no particular brand. I have found that this does help in flattening the scar tissue. Not sure why, but I think the skin reads it as "skin" and thus does not grow further in that direction. Maybe protects from air without suffocating, too. It can adhere to the scar, but will also come off while one sleeps, for example. Easy solution is a band aid over it, to hold it in place. Also makes it less mysterious to people than a blue thing on one's face. The gel cushion makes it easier to massage the scar tissue without abrading the outer layer of skin and tissue. That's really helpful to healing. It takes a full year for an injury like mine to heal. I have been using this a couple of months, and notice a difference if I take it off and forget for a few days. Using scissors to cut this strip down into pieces that fit the scar makes it last forever, and the pieces can be cleaned and re-used.
