I've gone through a few and made my own for our pup but this one so far, the worst she's done is fray the rope a little bit. We've gotten some great times so far with this one. I can't say if I know if it floats or not yet, been too cold to go swimming still in the lake. This throw ball is great in that when I spin it to throw it makes a very distinct sound that our pup hears and gets her all excited to chase... Usually bounces several times giving her the opportunity to jump in the air to catch it. I saw a similar exercise toy/ball at our USA dog trainers and searched Amazon and found this one... If you have an active pup that likes to fetch, this is a good activity toy for outside.
