It has a light citrusy fragrance that I am assuming comes from the plant extracts. It contains NO ADDED fragrance and is pretty gentle overall. It lathers well and does not make the skin feel stripped. However, I developed a persistent rash that only went away AFTER I stopped using it. I believe the culprit was the camellia sinensis. I did not realize that this was the name of the plant that black tea comes from. I am allergic to that. I'm also pregnant and because it's organic I know that there are no awful chemicals in it that will harm my baby. Fragrance is actually carcinogenic as is formaldehyde and those chemicals are in nearly every scented shampoo on the market.
