Review: Cheap, good sound and really fast delivery! I bought a cheap 450W powered sub on eBay but it didn't work. Scouring the net I found this amp and decided the outlay was worth risking on an unproven speaker. I ditched the old amp (but salvaged the banana plug terminals and internal wiring) and hooked up this new amp—needless to say, it surpassed my expectations. TBH, I've noticed the tiniest bit of a hum from it, but I previously had huge issues with a ground loop that made my previous set-up un-listenable. Once I've got music or a movie going, the hum is not at all noticable, even on quiet stuff. From what I've seen, there aren't many other mono amps at this price with a frequency dial. And there's even fewer with a bridged mode (PBTL), not that I need this functionality myself. My only wish is that the frequency dial doesn't have any measurements on it, so I've had to guess where the 80Hz mark is. Finally, mine was delivered next day. Very impressed!

**Q: will this power a 50 watt bass shaker?**
A: And by the way..saying "50 watt bass shaker" does not describe or define the bass shaker. 50 watts is merely the recommended peak power. Says NOTHING of how loud it will play, or how good it sounds. Again, power rating DOES NOT DEFINE A PRODUCT.

**Q: Why are there left and right inputs for a mono amp? If you have a mono source, can you plug it into only one input, or do you have to connect to both?**
A: Hello. We have a using guide picture in the listing. You can check that. We have left and right inputs since some customers using stereo signal. If yours are mono, just connect one input.

**Q: When using in sub mode, which rca input to plug in? left or right or both?**
A: Hello. Please see our second main image. The "audio in" rca posts are connected to sound sources. The "spk out" posts are a set of speaker binding posts. When in sub mode, you need to connect your passive subwoofer with bare wire or banana plug. If you still have questions, you can send your device models and images to nobsound@doukaudio.com. **Q: When using this with a subwoofer how do I know where to set the frequency cortrol knob?**
A: Like others have said, turn volume up on your main speakers (L/R) to desired listening level then advance frequency crossover knob until you can hear the subwoofer in your favorite music passage, then back the sub down until it is un-noticeable in the passage. Your subwoofer range should take over at the effective L/R low frequency cutoff point...Blend it in seamlessly.

I used this to replace a plate amplifier on a powered subwoofer for a pair of monitors. The reason I wanted to replace the existing amp was because it had a lot of white noise whenever it was turned on, which was a problem in the quiet, near-field listening environment I had set up. The old amp also suffered from interference (cell phone buzz buzz buzz sounds). This nobsound amp fixed both of those issues. The white noise is minimal, and it has gain switches (which I set to the minimum value) which reduced it further. Someone in another review mentioned there's a pop when the unit powers off, but that's only true if you cut power to the unit (by turning off a power strip). If you use the on/off switch on the unit there's no pop. The amount of power is more than enough for my needs, which aren't much (it's an 8" subwoofer for near-field listening). The amp stays very cool. The built-in EQ worked fine and I was able to tune it to match my monitors without too much trouble. I wish it had an adjustable phase, but you can always invert the phase by swapping the speaker leads, so no big deal. The RCA input is also a bit of a bummer (my previous sub was balanced XLR) but I haven't noticed any hum or other interference problems, so I guess it doesn't matter. For the price, I couldn't be happier.
