Easy to pour hot liquids into it. I use mine to make tea at around 6:30 am and pour it into the bottle. It keeps it plenty hot for drinking at lunch time. I do not know what they sell at Target but as long as you buy Thermos brand you really can't go wrong. They make quality products and I have never been disappointed. The lid/cap serves as a nice drinking cup. You just have to refill it because it is on the small side.
