I haven't tried to purposely break them, the extruded aluminum is still pretty thin, but the simple fact that they are a rigid design is already a huge improvement over the single pieces of bent steel most stores sell.The ridged plastic grips also snap onto the curtain rod and hold it very well. Only thing I'd recommend is toss the useless screws and drywall anchors and get some better ones from the hardware store. Drywall anchors shouldn't even be necessary, if you're putting these up for a window curtain you can screw into the king-studs on either side of the window frame.
