Now, after only 3 days of use the knob on the lid came apart. What a disappointment. The knob is fastened to the lid with what looks like a regular 3/4" steel wood screw. Inside the knob's base is some sort of plastic and that broke apart dislodging small pieces of plastic that contaminated a good Japanese Sencha brew. Apart from this unfortunate product failure I really like the teapot. The borosilicate glass body holds up well - I used it with Medium heat on our electric stove top and in our microwave oven. I like the look, which is why I purchased it for a gift. The infuser is stamped with 304 which is more like 18% chromium and 8% nickel, that is 18/8, versus the 18/10 mentioned in the desertcart description. No big deal to me. The infuser works well keeping the leaves and grit away from the beverage and it is also easy to clean. Or do I have to put already boiling water into it?** A: Yes, it is definitely suitable to heat water in the teapot directly on the stove. I bought this item a few weeks ago and have used it every day since. Every time I have heated the teapot on the stove burner. I have a gas stove. My husband even uses my teapot to heat water for his coffee. It heats up quite quickly. The handle on the teapot is very hot for at least a few minutes. This has not been a problem for me as I just move it from the stove top to my counter with an oven mit, and when my tea is done brewing the handle is cooled down. **Q: Is the teapot microwave save?** A: I love this teapot, and find it best to put it in the microwave to heat the water after removing the metal parts. I can bring the water to a rolling boil and the glass is very hot, so the temperature is held high for brewing. It will also stay hot if you use a tea cozy and pad underneath. **Q: Does the lid still fit when you remove the infuser?** A: You can remove the infuser, but you have to leave the lip that the infuser fits through in the teapot for the lid to still fit.
