I believe the casting, so the pot is made by Cauldron. I've owned several over the years but they have been tag sale finds, hand-me-downs and cheap ones that I picked up just to have one - but this, this I picked for myself.This teapot is an excellent size and has a pretty pour. It is thick enough that the "belly" of the pot doesn't get so hot that it feels like it will burn your hands if you touch it and it keeps the tea hot for a fairly good amount of time. Now, don't mistake me, if you are going to sit for hours, supplying delicately from a single cup while you elegantly while away your day, your tea is going to go cold - that's just the way it is. At that point, just add some simple syrup and ice and get on with your life, sheesh... But if you and a guest or two are having a nice cup and a chat, you'll be good to go.I also like that I don't have to be paranoid about the top of this pot - the lid sits nicely and stays put well when executing a standard pour. Upon receipt, I filled it with hot, soapy tap water for cleaning, and the pot proceeded to emit little crackling sounds with the heat. But there were no discernible cracks in the glazing. I noticed that this pot really retained heat over a fair amount of time. This is a very useful, lovely teapot. I specifically wanted a UK sourced product, and this totally fit the bill. Beautiful cobalt blue glazing, and an elegant pouring design.
