It is quite compact and lightweight when folded up - easy to carry in the convenient, high-quality carrying case. I had bought the Sony HDR-CX405 video cam and was looking for a compatible tripod/remote. Various sources indicated only some of the camcorder features worked with the remote, but that is not true. All of the features, including grid line function (not available on the camcorder itself), power, and zoom worked well. I am pleased with this purchase. (Side note: the only slightly sub-optimal thing is the instruction manual is small and a little hard to read.
