I work in a school setting, and wanted a sweater that wouldn't be too heavy for early fall into winter, but would also look good for parent meetings. The sweater is flatly woven, but I wouldn't call it 'silky - almost scratchy'. It is very boxy - the picture is now how this item looks on me! The arm length is longer than average, I think, which is good for me. I purchased the recommended Medium, but think I would try a Small next time - I think the sweater, on the whole) is a bit longer, so arm and torso length would be ok.
