Here are the housing dimensions: 8" x 8-1/4" x 5-3/4". The grille is the following size: 10-5/8" x 11-1/8". **Q: Can I plug this in to the housing for a 678 broan model?** A: i just received and installed this yesterday (12/5/22), a replacement for an old 678 50CFM fan that needed replacement because of mold build up in the bathroom. As one of the posters answered below, the plug does sit at a different spot, so unfortunately its not a simple fan swap out, but it can be done. i removed the new fan from the new housing, and with a little finesse and trial and error, i was able to fit the new fan unit into the old housing, including both fan plug and light plug (i ultimately had to use a screw driver to help push the light plug up into the light plug socket all the way). i ran it a couple hours last night with no issue, its yet to be seen if the mold issue goes away. the only issue was the light didnt fit flush with the ceiling, maybe less than a 1" gap, which i can live with. i couldnt push the new fan unit any higher up into the housing without contacting the fan. **Q: How is this different from Broan Nutone 678?** A: The HD80L fan light has several feature that enhance the performance of this model. THe 678 only offers 50 CFM with a plug-in, permanently lubricated motor. THe HD80L offers a little more power at 80 CFM and is designed for continuous operation. It is a little louder than the 678, but considered heavy duty since the motor can be continuous. **Q: can the fan motor be replaced?** A: Yes.
