Very very nice iron for the money. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great value soldering station *by W***Y on 8 May 2023* I bought this soldering station specifically to work on guitar wiring harnesses, as my previous iron just didn’t have sufficient power. This item seemed to offer all the power and flexibility I needed at a great price. Enough poke to solder large potentiometers, but controllable enough that I could reduce the heat for smaller items like oil filled capacitors etc. I haven’t been disappointed at all. I fitted one of the slightly larger tips and tinned it thoroughly before commencing work on the three wiring harnesses. I tinned all components with ease, then soldered in the switches, resistors (treble bleed), capacitors etc at 350°. For the components soldered onto the larger potentiometer casings, I upped the temperature to 400° and joints were quick and easy, without any excessive heat buildup. My old iron would have fried the pots before ever getting enough heat to make a good joint. OK, so there is a but of a compromise at this price. The stand for the iron is plastic, as is the station casing. They are still quite weighty though, and don’t move around when in use. The sponge is tucked on the inside of the stand, making it impractical to use. There is no auto shut off feature if the iron isn’t used for a while either. In my view though, these are very minor issues and this is terrific value for money - so good in fact, that I bought one for my dad too.
