Review: Good at only being a small device. Not that easy for general use - This could be a good product for specific use cases. But not for general use. The device is so tiny that the buttons are a pain to operate. Pros: 1. Tiny, has a clip which is quite useful Size is comparable to a pen. You can just set it and forget it 2. Mic quality is good Although the other Sony recorders have better mics, since they are bigger. 3. One push record even when powered off (in about a second) Probably the only one from Sony (available at the time of writing) which has this feature. Just press record and it powers up and starts recording right away. With my old and faithful Sony UX533F, Power on to record is about 5 seconds and needs two button presses (Power + Record button presses). Cons: 1. Being a tiny device, the buttons are not that easy to use, feedback of the oddly shaped record button is especially bad You can’t really be sure if you really pressed record without looking at the screen or LED to confirm 2. The useful features like T-mark, playback speed control (DPC) is hidden inside the menu options. The cheaper and larger recorders from Sony have dedicated buttons which make it very easy to operate. So, playing/ browsing through files is not easy in this device. I would like to reiterate that this is not a bad device but has very limited use cases. Its very good at being tiny and allowing quick start recording. But it’s bad at other uses which the cheaper branded recorders accomplish easily. Hence with that in mind I don’t think it’s worth the extra premium.
