Review: Great Product - This product worked safely and effectively on my pre-amp and graphic equalizer. I highly recommend this if your slider and rotary pots need to be cleaned and lubricated. Mine works like new again! Don’t replace your vintage equipment. Repair it yourself!!!
Review: Rotary or slide/fader/balance/volume static/scratching/noise - No more with this product. - Used on an old school vintage clock radio. The volume control made a horrid sound when used. Making the radio useless. We all know the situation. We go to turn on our favorite radio and one day SCRATCH, CRRRRRRUUUUNNNCHHHHH, STTTTTAAAAAATTTTTIC.. And, your heart sank. Knowing your old trusted friend has seen better days. Or has he? All you need do is have or gain access to the rotary mechanism inside your electronic friend, and no need to even take it apart or remove it. Just need to get behind the cover. Find the knob or slider and see where it comes together. The board material, and the metal or plastic housing for the rotary or slider? Unplug the electronic device. This stuff is very flammable. That is all you need access to. Dust off any dust in the area if any first. Have some paper towel or rags handy to help clean up. It won't be much. When using the straw make sure it is at a right angle or sticking out straight. I used a pair of pliers to make the end of the straw oval and thinner to fit into the crossfader fader slots. You do not need to spray a lot. A solid press then stop. You only need a few drops to get into the mechanics. Then rotate or slide the item being cleaning back and forth for a minute. Then if the rotary or slider started all the way to one side. Move it to the other now. Spray again. Just as before a few drops. This is water thin material in the can. And, a small amount goes and goes a long ways. Repeat the moving of the dial or slider. Doing this for a minute or two. Imagine your car is dirty, you take it to a car wash. You are in effect doing the same now for your electronic devices. And, the lube is built into this, so it is like the wax on the finish to keep it clean longer. This can be used on any rotary or slider styled electronic control. It is best to take apart the actual electronic item to get you closer to the mechanics behind the scene that are in need of help. Always unplug your device, remove batteries and such as this is a very flammable liquid. Do not use WD40. Because you are only cleaning the mechanics a little. Then leaving them raw and exposed. If your electronics get water in them then use WD40 because it is a water displacement spray. Not a lube or oil. Value for the money: My one repair tonight paid for this can and more. My new Mini Innofader Plus came 100% ready to use as is. After using this on it the movement improved 100% more. If you own anything electronic with rotary or slider controls, then do yourself a huge favor and get a can of this. Become your neighborhood electronic hero with this. Or, just to save yourself a fortune in repairs or worse replacements. How I discovered this product - The InnoFader I bought years ago had a tiny cute tube of DeOxIt redish color in it, I honestly didn't even notice it until my first InnoFader was having issues. I cleaned the years of dust and such out of it. Still goofing up. Went online and read about DeOxIt and wished I had some. Out of frustration I pulled out the InnoFader box, it is very small so I kept it with my DDJ SX2 original crossfader in it, and that was when I noticed that cute tiny tube of DeOxIt. I used 3 drops and the 99% of the issues solved. The movement felt like a hot knife through melted butter. Smooth! I had unfortunately handled the InnoFader in a manner that caused it to eventually skip or jump around as it went to the left or right 100%. As it would close or turn the sound to the left or right off. It would occasionally jump towards the middle open. I did check curve settings and made sure I was not in CUT mode. The curve setting dial was half way. Mechanically I must have pulled the lever towards me, causing the carriage to fail partially.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can i use this on my mcx8000?**
A: I'm not quite sure why a Denon MCX8000 stand-alone DJ controller would need a spray cleaner and lubricant intended for conductive plastic potentiometers in an analog signal path that are making a scratchy sound when they're turned. This tends to be a problem in vintage audio gear and audiophile equipment made the same way, not DSP controlled audio. I thought that that board didn't put analog signals through its pots, I thought it biases the resistance and uses the tap as a DC input for a multichannel A/D converter and the DSP uses the A/D value as a control value. AFAIK the major firmware update V2 resolved some fader issues.

Denon didn't use a magnetostrictive (no sliding contact) cross fader and this product is a reasonable idea to extend its working life, but it may make some small changes to the feel which can be a big deal to a scratch DJ. If its already worn out and you scratch this won't be a satisfyingly durable cure and you'll find you need to replace the crossfader. The Denon part is $25 and you can extend its life with contact lubricant or you might want go with the 3rd party non-contact crossfader for about $100. Even after upgrading the crossfader the total for the Denon is still a few hundred less than the Pioneer XDJ-RX or RX2 which are equipped with a non-contact crossfader as delivered. I haven't heard of anyone using non-contact channel faders, if its that there's no harm trying this before replacing the fader.

As a more generic answer, yes, its a general purpose product for "cermet" and other conductive block potentiometers. Its not for thick/thin film or wire-wound types, but those types have a limited number of wipes and aren't used for controls that are frequently moved. The spray contains a propellant, a volatile (evaporates quickly) solvent to dissolve and remove contaminants in the sliding interface (typically skin oils that have migrated down the shaft and condensed volatile organics -typically from food preparation), and 5% of the liquid is a stable oil (one that doesn't oxidize into a brown organic acid or polymerize into a sticky plastic sludge) to reduce friction slowing slider wear and the loss of the finger plating, and for fingers that have already lost their plating it slows the formation of a surface metallic oxide layer by excluding water vapor. The down side is that dust which is always wiped from the contact path tends to become trapped adjacent to the wiper path and be carried back into the track as the oil spreads back in after the wiper passes. In a very dusty environment where dust is the primary problem for the wiping contact, the oil can be counter-productive and a spray cleaner without an oil is preferable.

**Q: can this product be used for my light and blinker switches of my motorbike, its made of plastic? Need to keep the switches free.**
A: Use dielectric grease instead. This will work for a while but the oil isn't stable with arcing contacts and will gradually make a dark gooey film that interferes with the contact resistance and has to be cleaned off. The dielectric grease isn't a classic oil and soap grease that traps the oil in the soap strands. Its a high molecular weight (thick) siloxane oil with finely milled pure silica powder as a thickener.

**Q: Would i have to remove the top panel of my peavey fx2 mixer to be able to use this?**
A: I would remove the top panel. It will allow you to apply the deoxit only where it's needed. I alloy a couple of short bursts using the tube applicator while running the slide back and forth to full travel then a more liberal dose again running the slide to limits on both ends. This first round breaks up any build up, dust, coffee, whatever is giving you grief then the second completes the clean and rinses. Make sure to have a catch cloth, paper towell under the switch so that rinsed out debris and extra deoxit doesn't get on other sensitive components. I use compressed air to blow out the switch before I start and after the rinse. Wait about 10 minutes before powering up. Deoxit also makes a fader lube that will restore tactile feel and help repel build up of contaminants on this type of switch. This product line it top notch and I have saved literally hundreds of volume, gain and slider controls and switches with it. Not cheap but lots cheaper than trying to replace an easily cleaned control. It it sounds scratchy, most likely all it needs is a good cleaning. Just clean it right.

**Q: what is best clean corrosion and lubricant truck to RV elec plug?**
A: Just use electrical contact cleaner for this.
If really corroded.....cut a piece of sand paper to go over it first.
When clean, put a thin film of dielectric grease in socket.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Might as well get used to biting the bullet on cost if you're going to do it right.

Like most users I buy a lot of vintage stereo components. Not all, but most have really funky controls and the pots containing a carbon disc are the most likely to be damaged with high solvent contact cleaner. There are only a couple I use. For really dirty ones I'll use a contact cleaner, allow a couple of minutes to dry and then use this F5. For lesser issues I go directly to this. You have to really "exercise" the controls after use for best results. That means up to 40 or 50 full rotations for adequate cleaning. This F5 leave a lube coating to help prevent future funk. All those old components will never be made again, so I treat them as best I can to give them another 50 years. I won't be here, but someone will always love the vintage sound. It's expensive but I haven't found a proper substitute, so what are you going to do?
