Like virtually every quartz clock, it keeps good time, too. Review: You cannot over-ride the silence for the chimes at night - Manufacturer's box came well packaged and seems very unlikely to suffer damage in transit. A good quality case finish, but it efinitely looks like a modern clock and not 'antiquey' at all. The chimes sound good and are not tinny. They have some depth and resonance. The volume control also allows you to adjust it or turn it off completely. It ticks very quietly, and can just be heard at night in a slient room, but that is comforting. I cannot comment on its accuracy as I had to return it. Why? 2 reasons: (1) The clock chime turns off at night from 10pm to 5am. You cannot over-ride this. I wanted a clock with a chime so I could hear it during the night, as that is somewhat comforting if you are lying awake. (2) The chime setting is a nightmare. It works if you follow the translated from Chinese to English instructions. But It is time-consuming and very fiddly and so so irritating. Tip: put in batteries and that allows you to start from 6am as per the instructions. In fact, at just before 6am, set the hands to it is just before 6am, then put the batteries in. Also, in case anyone is wondering, the Westminster Chime only chimes on the hour. There is another version available on desertcart (for a higher price) which states it chimes on the 1/4 hour.
