THIS IS IT. *by M***. on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on July 14, 2015* Let me put it this way... I just installed this on my bike and rode around my neighborhood. TWO TIMES... people stopped me and asked me what kind of headlight this was, because it's "bright as hell." YOUR SEARCH ENDS HERE. If you're reading this, you're probably looking for a bike headlight. You can stop looking and scroll up and hit "Add to Cart" and skip my review.I've been looking forever for a good bike light to help me ride around the San Fernando Valley at night. This thing is awesome. It gets attention.THE PROS:- BRIGHTNESS --- this thing is really bright. Like... probably unnecessarily bright. It gets attention because people don't think a bike is coming up behind them. But if 500 blinding lumens are too much for you, there's a "Medium" and a "Low" setting if you feel confident enough to ride without the sun on your handlebars. Even "Low" is brighter than my dad's Bell bike headlight. This is really that good, and brings me to my next point I love...- BEAM PATTERN --- This projects light in 2 patterns: concentrated light FAR AHEAD, and also projects a beam that goes down vertically from the horizon down to the front tire of my bike. The beam pattern alone is something worth writing about, because its not just a "spotlight" in front of the bike. It's designed like an actual headlight. As I ride, the light falls directly where I need it, not in a circle far away like traditional flashlights. You can tell that the lamp reflector was designed really well. It also projects a bit of light sideways, too. Pretty neat stuff.- POWER BANK --- it has the ability to charge up my iPhone in case of emergency. I doubt I'll ever use this feature, since if I had the cable to charge the phone, I probably would have done it already, but I guess the "peace of mind" is a luxury.- RECHARGEABLE --- since this is charged by an included Micro-USB (?) cable, it can easily be recharged when it has to be, rather than burning through batteries that have to be thrown away. It includes "Status LEDs" that indicate the light's current charge level so you should know when it needs to be plugged in. Simple. I like it.What don't I like about it?Nothing really. If I had to be picky... The button to turn the light on is kinda hard to press. Oh well... I guess I'll just have to press it a little harder. Bummer?A real downer though is the mount. The light slides onto this kind of pinch clip thing and that hold it in place. Getting it on is easy... but when I try to get it off, no matter how hard I pinch the clip, its tough to get off. I feel like they might fail at some point since the plastic seems flexible, but I';m sure that when that day comes Cocoweb can have a replacement.OVERALL, this light is bright. Convenient. Awesome. Buy it, but be ready to have people ask you all night "What kind of light is that?" while you're riding. At least you'll be more famous for a better reason than Kim Kardashian... :) happy cycling. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Bike Headlight plus USB Backup power! *by R***E on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on September 7, 2014* Cocoweb Escalante Bike front Light (SBEL-500BK): Great product for the price. It is well built and solid, very bright, 500 lumen at its highest setting (lasts about 2 hrs). It looks like, to me, it matches the brightness against other 500 lumen lights, (http://www.modernbike.com/bicycle-light-comparison-guide). In complete darkness, going about 15 mph, I had no problems seeing the path directly in front of me, to the side and way ahead. It also has 2 lower settings that are about 50% (4 hrs) and 30% (8 hrs) and a flash mode at about 20% (120 hrs) lower than the full setting. I tested it at high setting for 15 minute intervals and it lasted beyond its specified 2 hour run time. Although, the lens got pretty hot after 15 minutes of continuous use.The on/off and function buttons are a little difficult to use, especially to turn on . There is one button on the top back of the light (it is slightly raised to make it easier to locate in the dark) you push and hold to initialize the light (the 4 blue battery level lights come on but not the light) then you push another button near the middle to turn on the head light. Subsequent pushes of this button will cycle through the light levels and the flash mode. To turn off you push and hold the back button again. My light has a hard to push sticky initialize button (easier after 6 months of use). It maybe due to heavy duty rubber covering the button/switch that makes it water resistant.I like that you can charge this using a USB power port and that it has battery level use/charge indicators. The indicator will flash when power is low. It can also be used as an alternate power source for other electronic devices that run off a USB port (I get a half charge with my 3000 mah battery phone).. The headlight can be either on or off while charging.Update 12/2015: still working fine, no problemsThis light seems very comparable to other $60-$80 lights. My only concern is the flimsy handlebar mount/light release mechanism. It doesn't seem to be very durable and that the mount may break trying to take the light on and off . I hope they sell spare mounts.
