A shoe horn may seem a pretty mundane item to get so excited about, but the excitement is completely merited. This isn't a piece of stamped sheet metal as almost all other metal shoe horns are. It appears to have started as bar stock and is then formed into the shoe horn shape. This makes the handle thick to give better control. It also means that the spoon portion of the horn has a variable thickness, being thiner towards the edges so it fits well and thicker in the center for excellent strength. Finally, not being stamped means there are no sharp edges that plague the reviews of other metal shoe horns. It's strong, smooth, has a beautiful finish, and just feels nice in your hand.I was concerned at the time of purchase that the stamping on the spoon may have sharp edges that would catch my sock. I'm happy to report that the stampings are very smooth and pose no problems with snagging socks.I'm assuming that by reading reviews for shoe horns that you are more invested in your footwear than most. There is no reason to buy poor equipment when this is less expensive than other, inferior options.
