## Description

Product description ERP 98QBP0300 Microwave Cavity Spray Paint Pearl White This part works with microwaves. Surface must be clear of grease and rust. Shake can until ball inside breaks loose and rattles. Continue shaking it for 2 minutes, swirling container so ball travels around bottom groove. Test spray for proper distance. If too far away, coverage will be uneven. Apply with ‘dusting’ strokes. Let paint become tacky between coats. When finished painting, clean the valve by holding can upside down and spray for 2 seconds. Note: Allow paint to dry 12 hours prior to use.

Review: So far, so good - First off, having read the reviews and color issues folks had with 98QBP0302 (Snow White), I opted for this one, the Pearl White. Well, my mistake. That's not to say that the snow white would have been correct, but it likely would have been closer to correct. If the inside of your microwave is any shade of white, then get 98QBP0302 (Snow White). This Pearl White color is what I would describe as bone, sand, or beige - it is even darker than almond. So, that being said about color matching, I was more interested in how well this spray paint would resolve some of the issues developing with our 8 year old microwave. Yes, at 8 years, it's probably time to just replace it. However, there is nothing mechanically wrong with the unit. It works well, it's a great size, it is powerful, and the outside looks practically new. However, for some time now, the vent gratings on the top inside had the enamel come off and the bare metal was showing/rusting. The remainder of the inside top was also showing signs of discoloring that would not come clean. There was also a chip in the enamel on the inside base under the turntable. I first gave the inside a good cleaning. Then I used a wire brush on the caked rust on the vent gratings and vacuumed out the rust chips/dust. Before spraying, I covered and taped off all other areas. When you spray, it is going to create vapors throughout the inside, so anything you don't want to get hit with over spray, cover and tape it. Better too much cover than too little. It's also probably a good idea to wear a mask when spraying as the fumes are pretty strong. I took heed with the instructions to spray lightly. It is best to do multiple light coats than too much, which will cause the spray to liquify, pool, and run. Lightly spray, air it out to dry a bit, lightly spray more. Take your time - do many, many light coats and the results look really wonderful. When you think you're done, wait a bit, and then do one more light coat. The 6 ounce can goes a very long way. With each light coat I did, I then put a box fan in front of it for a few minutes, then came back to do the next light coating. I did the entire top of the inside of the microwave, getting both vent gratings and everything that was discolored. It looks nice and clean now. I then uncovered the chip in the bottom. When I first sprayed the chip, it began to make the enamel around it bubble and come off. I cleaned off what I had sprayed, and then used some steel wool to better smooth the area around the chip. I then washed/dried it, then used some rubbing alcohol to clean/dry more. Now when I sprayed, it was sticking and not affecting the area around the chip. I did a bunch more light coats, again drying with the box fan between each. All was good. After I was done with the spraying, I then left the box fan blowing in to it for another couple hours. I then moved it from the garage back into the kitchen and let it sit overnight with the door open. This morning, I plugged it in, did some cooking in it, and everything seems well. The inside of my microwave is now two-tone, but who cares? We'll see in time how durable it is. If necessary, I'll use the remaining paint to touch up any areas that need it. I'm hoping to just get another few years out of the microwave, then will replace.
Review: Works great - My microwave is only 3 years old and the inside enamel was peeling and rusting off. I don’t want to replace the entire unit (it’s above the stove and a pain plus expensive) so we ordered this not having much hope. We sanded the entire inside down first after throughly cleaning with high grit sandpaper. This took a few hours. This is a must. Then I put multiple layers of this enamel inside and made sure to follow the instructions on the bottle. I waited 48 hours instead of the suggested 24 hours for use and did leave the microwave open to air out as it does leave a smell. The inside looks new again and has held up for the last six weeks. I am impressed.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How long do you have to wait to allow paint to dry and totally cure before using the microwave?**
A: I waited a 48 hours after last coat before using. Kept microwave in a warm dry space to cure.

**Q: After spraying the insdie of the cavity of the microwave, was the finished product smooth or rough and gritty like mine?**
A: This product produced good results. Preparation is required. Basically, the surface must be clean and free of debris. Sanding may be necessary to smooth the edges of chipped paint or remove rust. The finish was as smooth as the original enamel.

**Q: Do you need to sand the interior before spraying and if so, with what?**
A: It didn’t need much sanding. Used very fine steel wool and then made sure to remove all steel wool that might have broken off.

**Q: Does it apply for shipping outside the USA?**
A: Hello
Does what apply to outside of the USA?

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not white... but did the job!
*by K***T on June 16, 2023*

I didn't do a test spray... I just went for it... and realized this is OFF WHITE... NOT white. I NEEDED white. This matched my other microwave insides... but the white one I specifically purchased this spray for did not match. It was too late though... microwave inside was scraped, sanded, taped, outside, and already sprayed- even if just briefly... so I went with it. I REALLY super wish it had been white; and am mostly upset with myself for not testing it and realizing the difference. The Hello Kitty microwave I was refinishing was in ROUGH condition. We bought used... I hadn't been letting my daughter use it, it was so bad.... what does rust in a microwave do to the food??? How does rust get IN a microwave anyhow?? It took one entire can to spray over my sanding... AAAANNNNND to spray EVERY other white surface on the inside so that it matched the new off-white/cream/light almond color this paint is. I did several spray over/coats to the sanded areas and one good thick coat over the rest. There were a couple of drips. I waited for them to dry, sanded, and resprayed and it covered it fine. It's done, refinished, I put in a new microwave cardboard, prevents sparks, kinda silvery thingy (definitely a technical term!) in it and we have since used it... I did do a quick "clean" with soapy water on high for several minutes and wiped it down to ensure the paint was actually water & steam proof, microwave proof (how do you actually prove the paint is microwave/people safe??) etc. All looks good, no problems, and coverage (even though not a true white) was pretty spectacular considering the affordability of this item! I would absolutely recommend this product, as far as durability, value, and ease... but would warn to do a color check before hand, IF that is important to the user! It is a GREAT way to restore a microwave rather than buying new.
