You can usually tell this when there are no ants trailing in, but there are still ants near by. **Q: Once opened, how long do they last/are they effective for?** A: i received them in the afternoon and spread them around my kitchen as soon as I got them. By the next morning (when they were usually the most active) they were almost all gone. Maybe 2 or 3 instead of an army. By the following day they were gone. I decided to leave them in place for awhile since they are out of sight. It did the job in a day, after that, what does it matter? **Q: I literally got an empty container. Did anyone else have this?** A: I have ordered twice. No empty container, but the grandules are small on the bottom. You just punch the 4 holes in the sides and put and watch the ants die. **Q: Does this work for flying ants ?** A: Unknown. We do not have flying ants.
