Some might think it looks cheap but for the price point, I think it's a steal and a great bargain. It is particleboard with a beautiful finish, and the actual shelf poles are plastic. I appreciate that each piece is the same. All you have to know is the little stumps go on the bottom to screw the poles in, and then when you stack the shelves, the top ones have the little screw-in flat finials. No confusing instructions. No allen wrenches. The thickness of it makes it look like it's metal rods, and it feels just as sturdy. I wouldn't lean on it. I do currently have my TV on it as it is a newer model and prob weighs under 20 lbs. The weight is evenly distributed and it's holding it like a champ. I put my Wii, (yes I live in 2008 in my head) and my Playstation and VHS player underneath it for a nice cheap entertainment center that I can also store my dolls on. I love it! It makes the room look complete! Eventually I will get some shelves to put on either side and I will likely go with Furinno again.
