The template is a little smaller than the letters, but if you just assume the rivet is in the center of the letter you will be fine.I did the tailgate first and broke the the first red letter I removed, but got better at the front and was able to remove the letters in one piece.Helpful tip, drill as slow as possible and that way when the drill bit goes fully through the red letter and tries to push through the chrome base behind, the red letter actually starts lifting off down the drill bit.I am not a handyman, but took my time and installed the front and rear emblems in about an hour!Excellent product and EXACT fit inside the chrome!! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 2017 Sierra 1500. I did not do any drilling like the manual stated. Just take the chrome and pry it open. The original letters break off easily with a little force.
