I've owned the device for approximately six months. I saw a fast deterioration of its capabilities. The bags often stuck to the component that melts the plastic. As a result, each time I would release the lock, the bag would rupture, even if only in a small way. But, of course, one tiny leak is all that it takes to defeat the purpose of the sealer. Then today, after really pretty marginal use over the past six months, it stopped latching on one side. No, we didn't drop it, jam it, smash it. We took good care of it. Just stopped latching. I attempted to seek support from Smarssen multiple times over the course of a week via the phone, email and click to chat. I've not received a single response to my queries. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Has done the job for me... *by M***I on Reviewed in the United States on August 3, 2017* I had this for a few months now and use it many time each week. I've had no problems when using the proper type bags and I can say this really "sucks" in the best way possible. I was amazed at how good the vacuum actually worked - really packing the food tight in the bags. Our finished products look just like the commercial vacuum packed food I've bought over the years. I really wanted to love it and based on the reviews I thought it would be great. This is the first vacuum sealer I've ever owned so as I newbie I decided to try this out. I did research and really thought this would be ideal, however, I feel that each time I've used this item it hadn't sealed my items properly. When I've tried to seal raw chicken to place in the freezer there is air gaps all over the bags and it SELF seals (which sounds lovely initially, until each time it "self seals" before extracting all the air gets frustrating) before one would like. Then time, bags, and more plastic is wasted, cutting the top open and trying again. I wouldn't buy this again and honestly I'm thinking of returning it because I really just don't like it all.That being said the free bags and plastic roll were nice to have initially. Also, I have found that trying to seal harder, dried foods it does work better and more efficiently. But the latter does not (in my opinion) make up for the other issues. I think there should be an override to the self seal if one is not satisfied. I would rather have the option of manual extraction.The picture (hard to see) shows an air pocket not extracted by machine after 3 attempts of opening, pressing down, and re dealing.
