No modification to any metal part of the Jeep or kit was needed. My bar arrived covered in what I thought was fine black sand, but was actually metal file shavings. I wiped them off with a damp paper towel, a minor annoyance. There was some slight scuffing on the top side of the bar, which is only cosmetic and very minor and not bothersome. (It's a working Jeep after all, not a mall crawler.)Other reviews have mentioned the included instructions are out of date (e.g., they show installation on JKs only up to 2007) and this is true. My Jeep JKU is a 2017 and the "newer-style" brackets that came with this kit had three threaded holes (as opposed to the pictured two in the instruction sheet) that easily accommodated the later JK models.Installation: I was able to undo the plastic screws and pull out the upper air dam without having to remove the grille. I just muscled it out one of the sides, bending and shimming as I went. Everything bolted on great, though one warning: do not over-tighten the bolts securing the bar to the brackets. The welds that hold the threaded part on the bar don't look that robust and it's possible over-tightening may break the welds loose. Your milage may vary.Once mounted, it was surprisingly sturdy. A test drive at highway speeds revealed no loosening or detectible oscillations. I did note the bars do partially block the factory headlamp light at the very far periphery. A slight shadow created by the bar on either side is slight. After a while driving, I barely noticed it though it is worth mentioning. The tabs for the lights are also surprisingly sturdy. Note, the yellow lights shown are the "OEDRO 7 Inch 51W LED" lights available on Amazon. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I love the look and thickness. *by R***N on Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2022* I love the look and thickness. All the other ones out there look puny compared to this. This is our second one we bought. One for my old JK, and now for my JL. It is not a perfect fit for the JL jeep. I was able to make it work. The frame is the same width, but the bolt holes don't all line up. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Looks bad a** on the Jeep *by A***L on Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2016* Looks bad a** on the Jeep. Instructions could have been better. They were for 2007 need to be updated for newer models with better photos in color. Although the description states no drilling required the plastic filler plate between the bumper and the grill has to be cut to install the brackets.I didn't want to install any lights on the bar so I cut off the light brackets, grinded the weld smooth and sprayed just the area cut with powercoat paint. The welds are on the underside of the bar so you can see them anyway. I also didn't want to cut the ends off the plastic filler plate so I cut channels in the filler plate for the brackets to slide thru. One tip, when removing the plastic filler plate do not try to unscrew the two plastic fasteners . The plastic is very soft and will only strip the screw head. Instead carefully pry the fastener up with a thin flat head screw driver around the outer circle. Try not to damage. Once out you can removed the screw and re-insert when reassembling.
