All the parts fit together well and the knife had an excellent polish. Maybe all the knives are not of the quality of the one I received but mine was very well made. Review: Like the Ulster Old Timers from the 1960's-1980's. - My grand dad carried an Ulster Old Timer utility knife in the 1960's, and got me one of the last Ulsters back in the early '80s. My 80's Ulster version had brown sawcut delrin handles and stainless blades and tools, but was nearly the same as grand dad's. When Schrade reintroduced this model back in 2018, I grabbed one and it served me well for years. I was very pleased that the Old Timer utility scout was continued in the line up when the Schrade name was removed on the traditional knives, and was given one by a co-worker to celebrate a milestone birthday (the Old Timer branded ones are now marked with the date of manufacture). There are several things about this knife that I like: -The bail is removable (although not replaceable), a feature Ulster used to advertise as a feature allowing more convenient pocket carry. -The blade is a bit shorter and less wide than the one on the original. This is a bit of an improvement for urban carry today. - The springs are as strong as the originals, important in a non-locking knife. -The screwdriver, can opener and bottle opener are all fully functional right out of the box. -The awl/reamer is stamped out like the old ones. I put a point on mine, just like I did on my old one back in the 80's and it works just as well. -The blade takes and holds an edge very well. The current one was sharp right out of the box. Good to see these are still being made like they were back in the day. I don't need fancy jigged bone handles or blade etches, but I do like to have a rugged little bit of history I can use each day.

A: The blade says 230T.  No other markings on it.

**Q: Does the blade lock open?**
A: No, there is no locking mechanism on any of the blades.

**Q: USA or China manufactured?**
A: This pocket knife is made in China; it says so on an end flap on the box the knife came in.

**Q: Does anyone make a scout knife with a saw blade included we the other blades?**
A: Yes. Victorinox makes several models with the saw blade which is very sharp and useful tool for small branches. I own the Trekker which has a slightly larger saw blade. I also own the Huntsman which has a saw blade too. Both are excellent choices. I also own the Corona foldable pruning saw which I got at Lowe's for $20 =/- . It is bigger and can handle bigger branches and small logs but is a good choice too. All of this advice depends on what your needs are. The knife/saws are quite capable for branches up to 1 1/2" (maybe 2"). The Corona foldable is capable for small logs/branches up to 4" to 5". Larger than than that, you need a buck saw or a very large foldable. Hope this helps your decision making process.

Some of the reviews I read gave this knife a poor rating but the knife I got was an extremely well make knife. All the parts fit together well and the knife had an excellent polish. Maybe all the knives are not of the quality of the one I received but mine was very well made. It was razor sharp and would slice paper out of the box. Excellent knife especially for this price.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Decent EDC Camper Knife

I have had a "Camper" type knife in my pocket for nearly 30 years. Always liked "Case" or other Made in USA but finally had to buy "Old Timer" as Case is NLA. Pleasantly surprised at overall quality when it arrived. Nicely sharp too. Zero issues with function. Only annoyance is the bail or hoop is quite loose, and if not paying attention you can snap the blade closed on the bail, getting a tiny nick. Don't do that anymore now! I totally recommend this knife for anyone seeking a scout type to cut things, poke things, open scan of beans and pop-a-top when done. I am very happy! ‐--------- April 2025. Still happy! BUT - unless you need it (and most don't) - do yourself a favor and REMOVE the bail as it WILL flip up when you close the blade and chip the edge. I could never get it to tighten up, should have removed it after that effort.
