With this adapter, my download speed is limited to just under 8 Mbps on my internet connection which is capable of going up to 12 Mbps without this adapter. I am not going to return this because it isn't that expensive, but I definitely will look for a gigabit adapter.The only issues I have with this adapter are the USB 3.0 ports. I connected my wireless mouse's wireless receiver to this ethernet adapter's USB port and the mouse movement became noticeably jerky and unpredictable. Sometimes the pointer would jump from one section of the screen to a totally different part of the screen without showing any movement in between. The USB ports however work well with my USB 3.0 drives.The adapter becomes quite warm to the touch especially if I leave a flash drive plugged in. The aluminum cover gets up to 100 degrees F when the ambient temperature is 70 degrees F. One advantage of the aluminum jacket is that it helps to conduct away and dissipate the heat. I also point the USB ports upward to help the heat escape from the interior of the adapter.
