I've found it very easy to carry this way. **Q: I'm in Seattle and looking to buy one of these for the "last mile" of my commute. Does this do well in wetter weather ? I imagine it's waterproof** A: I will not recommend this scooter in wet weather and/or soft grounds as the wheels are too thin. I’ve got into a big accident last year in September due to grains of sand over the concrete side walk in South Beach. It is a lot of fun but once again, I’m not comftable with the wheels. In my mind, they should be wider and with more grip for all kind of terrains. **Q: Can this scooter still go over wet surfaces, though not recommended, should the need arise due to occational rainfall in the desert?** A: It can, but you will need to slow down a bit. Straight line performance is fine when it's wet, but turning and braking is limited. You would need to allow for some extra braking distance and take any turns slower than you would when dry. **Q: How big is the platform where you put your foot?** A: On this model the platform is 7.4 inches wide and 25 inches long. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very nice adult scooter, robust build quality *by J***D on December 29, 2017* This is just a preliminary review, after unpacking and riding the scooter around for a few days (just a few miles). It is quite a blast, reminds me so much of the days when I used to ride a skateboard around town...only add handle bars and brakes (a nice feature). I had no trouble unfolding or folding the xootr, the mechanism works marvelously. The handle bars are the perfect height (I'm 6'1") go up and down without trouble, although I may need to tighten the fastener a bit more as a downhill ride had the handle bar slipping down lower and lower. The wheels do roll very well, and the rubber has a decent grip on pavement. The brakes are gentle and well-calibrated, I do not feel a risk of the scooter front-flipping over when I apply the hand brake. I also enjoy the light weight, this can easily be carried around without trouble.I'm also a heavier rider, about 260 lbs, and I am impressed by the strong build quality of the Xootr. I did notice some flex in the deck when I shifted my weight side to side, but I'm not concerned it will break.UPDATE: I've been riding the Xootr almost daily (weather permitting) since buying it in December, and it has been a life changer. I live in a place with plenty of rail transit, but I can use the Xootr to get to/from the train station, and simply fold it for the train ride. My commuting time has been cut dramatically, and my ability to reach certain neighborhoods off the beaten path has likewise improved. I CALLED THE SELLER AND REQUESTED A REFUND. A REFUND WAS APPROVED. WHAT I WASNT TOLD WAS THAT I WAS STUCK WITH PAYING FOR THE SHIPPING. SO I PAID 61$ TO SHIP BACK AN ITEM THAT MALFUNCTIONED. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCOOTER OR SHOULD I SAY THE SELLER.I was looking for a scooter to join my son. I bought myself a globber one k 180 (Because that's all my local skate shop had). After a few weeks the Mrs saw how much fun we where having and decided she wanted to join us. I did some homework and after i read dozen of reviews i decided to get her a Xootr. I wanted to see what all the hype was about. The moment I got it the first thing I did was take it for a spin. To be honest I wasn't very impressed . First, the handle bars are too narrow. It makes it harder to control. I'm an avid mountain biker so I can appreciate smaller bars but I'm not expecting to ride through low hanging branches. Second the platform is to low. I rode it on the side walk and it's way to easy to bottomout. There were a few time i had to jump off because I had bottomed out and the scooter came to an abrupt stop. After comparing it to the globber the globber was just as good and in some ways better. The globber is also 100$ cheaper. So in conclusion it's a nice scooter but no way worth the 269$. There are too many really well made (cheaper) alternatives. The wider platform is nice.
