Product Description Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Flat Aluminum Primer provides a sound base for application of oil-based enamels, latex paints and aerosols on aluminum and galvanized surfaces. Unique primer provides excellent adhesion and incredible durability. From the Manufacturer Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Latex Aluminum Primer is a specially formulated base coat for aluminum or galvanized metal.

Review: Good coverage and adhesion - I used this as my primer to repaint a rusty fridge. First I sanded rust off, wiped down then put two coats of this on waiting an hour between coats. The next day I used my fingernails and the primer didn’t scratch. Lightly sanded and it was ready for the color coat. Worked great. This is a good quality primer and I knew I would need that for this to work. Very happy.

**Q: Can this be used on any metal surface? I am not sure my pool fence is galvanized metal or not.**
A: I`m sure you can use it on your fence. I used on my aluminum boat and it hold the paint well. I didn`t prepare the surface. One comment I have that this primer drying time was long, 2-3 weeks for heavy use. May be because it was to much humidy last July. To put just paint over you don`t need wait too much, 2-3 days will be enough.

**Q: Is this primer for topside only, or can it be also used below the waterline on my aluminum boat?**
A: I used this primer above and below the waterline and just used different top coats

**Q: How will it do on diamond plate**
A: It will work just fine. I used it to prime the underside of some aluminum diamond plate on a folding hitch carrier I made. It's been on the car since Spring and has held up perfectly. Just make sure to scuff and clean the aluminum very well beforehand.

**Q: I need to paint aluminum railing and I want to prime it in order to get the very best outcome! Can someone tell me if this is good or what is!?**
