I am not having any issues with it getting or staying hot enough to do the work. It is able to desolder large lead free solder connections easily. Having the sucker and iron in one makes the job much easier than when they are separeate. I also like it better than the suction ball style desoldering iron that I have. I believe this is a higher wattage unit than what others are selling where reviews state that they don't have enough heat capacity. I wish that the cord was somewhat longer but it isn't a big deal. It also smokes a bit until it breaks in but after that it no longer smokes.This iron has a fairly large tip so I only recommend it for thourgh hole components. it will be too large for very small components, surface mount components, and tight spaces. ### ⭐⭐ Great idea, poorly designed - UPDATED *by O***K on Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2018* I'm using it on old vacuum tube Leslie amps, tube-base lugs, not thru-hole stuff. "Comfortable handle" actually means, "If you hold the handle too close to the element, you will get burned!" Directions for "Easy to clean" should actually say, "Follow the directions, and you won't be able to open this tool for cleaning." Also, not quite hot enough for the job. Great idea, poor execution, sorry.Update: I later realized that this unit is strictly designed for through-hole work and I was trying to use it for old point-to-point stuff. My mistake.
