I first learned about David Hockney's work in an article with photos about him in Architectural Digest. I went to his exhibit at the Los Angeles MOMA and I've been a huge fan ever since. The museum provided portable Walkman type tape recorders with a recording by David Hockney discussing his work and his use of primary colors for this particular series of work. It was fascinating and gave me my first real understanding of paintings.I had my children with me and they just wanted to leave so I did not get to exhibit gift shop to buy a book of the exhibit. Whenever I see any opportunity to get a book of his works I buy it. I'm very happy with this book.If you are a David Hockney fan, I highly recommend this book.

This is a terrific book - expensive but really worth the money. The prints are beyond excellent - they're really superior and just draw you in almost to the point that you would be drawn in if you were standing in front of the works hanging in a gallery or a museum. And even though I'm a huge Hockney fan there are quite a few prints in this book I'd never seen before. And another real plus is that you're only reading Hockney's comments about his work, rather than someone else's. I also recommend the seller from whom I purchased the book - SRH Booksellers. The book was securely packaged and arrived in perfect condition, but beyond that, the seller enclosed a lovely handwritten card assuring me that if I wasn't satisfied for any reason, I would be refunded the total amount. Personalized service and contact with an actual human being is always a good thing, right? =)
