Therefore, if you had a powerful LED that actually used 40 watts (unlikely) it would also be usable. **Q: I only see package dimensions listed. What are the dimensions of the lamp itself?** A: Base = 6 inches wide, 1 1/4 inches high, Lamp 4 3/4 inches wide x 5 inches long, lower leg, 10 1/2 inches, upper leg 11inches. Hope this helps. **Q: Is this 40 w. led bulb which is same over 200 watt incandescent or does the 40 w. mean a 11-12 watt led which is equivalent to 40 w. incandescent** A: I think the 40w limit is referring to an incandescent light and the limit is due to the heat an incandescent light produces. I would think just about any LED that fits the socket would be fine as they product little heat. **Q: Will old fashioned incandescent bulbs (that aren't so tough on your eyes) fit in the socket?** A: Incandescent bulbs are hot and the lamp is apparently not designed to be safe with more than 40 watts. That's dark and would be "tough on your eyes" for sure. But I have no idea what you are talking about otherwise. Better quality LED bulbs provide light that you would not be able to distinguish from incandescent if that's your thing. And last far longer.
