Should work fine that way. **Q: What is the difference between this unit and the ET-337?** A: The ET-337 has a rubber base instead of the suction cup feet on the EX-17. I had the ET-337 and got rid of it because it needed 2 hands to operate. One hand to hold the dispenser and one hand to pull tape off. The suction cup feet on the EX-17 holds the dispenser to the flat tabletop so you can pull off tape without holding the dispenser. I like this dispenser a lot better. **Q: Is there an adapter for a 1" core? my needs are painters tape 3", heat tape 3" & scotch(gift wrap tape 1").
