I think that Isao more or less captures the dreamy and haunting mood of Debussy's compositions and also adds a bit of his own (humorous) flair here and there with some "light-hearted" synth sounds.The music on this album was recorded entirely with a moog synthesizer although the sweeping and majestic sound of a mellotron with string setting pokes through the mix on occasion. As a big synthesizer fan, I thought it was interesting that the various settings on the moog were listed as "equipment" including things like oscillators and lowpass filters etc. This particular synthesizer was pretty versatile and a virtually infinite number of sounds could be generated, as is amply demonstrated by Isao on this album.In addition to the works originally included on Snowflakes are Dancing, the last track was taken from his Firebird album (1976) and is another work composed largely on the moog synthesizer although other keyboards were used including a Fender electric piano and a Hohner Clavinet C.The sound of this high performance CD is excellent and trust me, the changes in dynamics virtually leap out at you.All in all, this is an excellent recording of electronic music by an excellent electronic composer. For those of you who don't know, Isao Tomita was a pioneer in the synthesized music scene. He was able to manipulate the Moog Synthesizer like no other. This is his second album, which was released in 1974, The music is from the classical composer Claude Debussy(1862-1918) who is associated with "impressionist music". Mr. Tomita decided to play this well know classical piece because what what to show a non-traditionalists (Debussy) work, than by a non-traditionalist artist, Tomita.The best way to listen to this cd is with headphones or earbuds. You can hear all the nuances of the Moog Synthesizer, and only imagine Mr. Tomita's mind at work on putting this all together. As with Debussy in his day, the classical aficionados of 1974 railed against this as "not being classical". Though the CD was nominated for, four Grammy Awards. One of which was for Best Classical Album.So, if you are just beginning your search for non-classical, classical music, or are wanting to listen to a different version of "Snowflakes Are Dancing" this is most definitely the CD you want. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Clair de lune is so moving. *by M***Y on Reviewed in the United States on September 15, 2021* I have been wanting this album since I heard of Tomita through watching Bandersnatch. I got his Bermuda Triangle and I was hooked. Sadly soany of his albums are locked in cd form. Thus, when I saw this was available through prime after clair de lune was used in the closing ceremony of the Olympics in Tokyo, I knew I had to have it.
