Review: Along with a large bag of my favorite bean coffee - Ok...got this antique looking coffee grinder in today. Along with a large bag of my favorite bean coffee....which is eight o'clock French roast beans. Assembly just required threading on the hand crank. No problem...30 seconds. I was excited to see it in action. So...opened the very easy open iron gate to inside of coffee grinder. Filled it up. It took about 4 regular size coffee scoops of beans to fill it up. Then...started grinding. After about 5 minutes of grinding, I opened the box underneath which catches the ground coffee. I was shocked. Less than a tablespoon of ground coffee. However...it was very finely ground. So...went back another 15 minutes Utes of grinding. Opened the box underneath....only half way filled. Which means that upon inspecting the coffee beans still left, I found 3/4 of the beans hadn't been ground yet. So...I realized that you can adjust the grind size easily with the screw and holding up the small plate under the main shaft screw...and twisting the bottom plate upward. I did this about 3/4 of the way upward. Now...went back to grinding. Ok...what a difference. It ground the whole box underneath it on coarse grind in about 2 minutes. In fact, I had to reload thru the iron closure for more coffee beans. Now...the small box...when completely filled from grinding is the right amount for for one 8 to 10 oz coffee. I use a French press, so the coarse texture is preferable. I made the first cup of coffee, and it was incredible. Very right taste. So...the moral to the story is this: if you want finely ground coffee, it will take seriously about half an hour to get the 2 tablespoons required by most machines. It will give your arm a very hectic work out. Now...if you just need coarse coffee, there is no problem. After I drank my first cup of coffee, I ground up another course 2 tablespoons in about 2 minutes. So...that's the bottom line. 2 minutes for coarse ground coffee....half an hour for 2 tablespoons of fine ground coffee......
Review: Muscle and Vocabulary Developer - After a heartbreaking morning when my electric grinder finally fell apart because of past mistreatment from a former boyfriend, I decided to go the classic route of a hand grinder. The picture immediately caught my eye because it reminded me of my bonus family's hand crank coffee grinder. Of course, their's is triple the size and grinds coffee quickly with little work. I had high hopes. The "antique" look matches my home aesthetic. So, I was pleasantly pleased when it arrived and took up a wee bit of the little bit of counter space I have in my apartment. However, I was unpleasantly reminded that I am not going to be able to whip out and grind my coffee beans like I use to and will need to plan ahead of time. Otherwise, my neighbors will hear unpleasantries shouted as I try to grind enough coffee beans in time to brew and make it work with seconds to spare. Perks: My right arm is now strengthened like Pop-eye's....my left bingo arm game is strong. I have updated my vocabulary. I have ground coffee beans. My aesthetic ego is pleased. Cons: Tiny compartment means tiny amount ground at a time. My vocabulary has been updated. I look like a lopsided Pop-eye. I sob a little bit every time I wake up later than normal on a work day. Overall, the purchase has been a good one. Do I miss having an electric grinder? Yes, especially, when I am running out the door with my shirts on inside out. However, I can't blame that on the grinder. It's just my own laziness of wanting to sleep in as long as possible.

### ⭐ Very Slow Grinding
*by M***E on June 22, 2017*

This grinder does not have a high output. It takes about 15 minutes to grind enough coffee to make a pot.
