All metal construction and operates nicely if you keep it clean. The ball marker can seem difficult to remove, but it's just a good strong magnet. If you push down on the marker while it's in place, it will lift the opposite edge up for you. You're not supposed to try and lift with a fingernail. Just have to push on the correct side of the tool. I like the size of the marker (about dime size).
