However, I took my time and used an air chisel to remove the OEM wear ring from the OEM housing. I had some pretty significant corrosional swelling to the point that is was locking up on my impeller on my 2008 VX 1100 Yamaha. With me needing a new housing anyways I had nothing to lose. After removing the stainless steel OEM wear ring and dremloing out all the white corrosion, I realized that this plastic ring was too big (stainless wear ring was thinner). So, if I forced this plastic ring into the housing it would be way too tight as it was several “thousandths” off from being able to fit. Probably more like 1/8” too big. My neighbor a few doors down works for a machine shop, so I sent it in with him and they bored out my OEM housing for $50 and gave this plastic wear ring “1/1000ths” worth of press. This gave me about 2/1000ths clearance between this wear ring and my OEM 155 mm impeller which was perfect. Once I verified the clearance as good and after confirming fitment and clearances, I removed the wear ring, coated the outside with JB weld to prevent the wear ring spinning and tapped it back in. I imagine if you had a cylinder honer that you could embiggin the aluminum housing yourself. Hope this helps someone! I’ll report back if I have any longer term problems, but I shouldn’t have issues with corrosional swelling any longer. Between paying $30 for this and $50 for some machine work, I came out much cheaper than paying $300 for an aftermarket housing and wear ring. ### ⭐ 1.0 out of 5 stars extremely loose, part would self destruct if I installed it. *by C***W on Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2022* I bought this to replace my old plastic wear ring. The quality on this replacement is very poor.The fit is extremely loose.
