Unless it was frozen stiff, I have little doubt that you could drop this off a six-story building and it would survive just fine. This does not have a clutch so when you take your hand off the handle it will keep spinning. You have to hold this down with force while you spin. Salad will not be perfectly balanced inside the spinning area so it will wobble when you wind it up. This is not for a lazy salad eater. This is for the strong, hungry, hard working type of person who doesn't mind a little struggle for their meal. That being said. This is the Best salad spinner I have ever seen and I love it. I doubt I will ever break this spinning salad. It might break if you throw it off the roof full of rocks.
