The item was returned. **Q: Can it be used in uk? it has just arrived but it does not have a 3 pin uk electric plug and the box says it is 120 volts (in uk we are 230 volts)** A: It can't be used in the UK without an adapter for the plug. You will also need a transformer to change the power to 240V.
