I didn't notice an odor of any kind. I was worried it would get chewy and therefore, messy. It didn't make a mess at all! It lasts much longer than any traditional bone or chew stick that I've tried with my exuberant chewers. The company is very upfront that supervision is required and it is. When your dog chews it to the end, you'll be left with a tiny piece that is very sharp and hard and therefore dangerous, and that part made me a bit nervous since I'm supervising a herd of dogs rather than a single dog. Since that is more of a personal problem, I'm not taking anything away from the rating because of it. You can even reuse the small leftover bit and instructions are included on how to melt it down to do so. The product is pricey and that is unfortunate for me, but only because I have so many dogs. For a single dog owner, this would last you a while, making it well worth the price. In my personal case, it was a one use treat. I will probably buy again, but due to its price, will have to do so for a special occasion only. I would buy from them again, however this product is too expensive for my needs. The yak chews are very hard and brittle and are tooth breakers out of the package. I inquired with the company and they responded right away. Microwaving them for 20-40 seconds changes them into a wonderfully crunchy treat, but also accelerates the chewing process for my dog.
