I use many different brands and types of ballasts in my gardens and this one so far runs the coolest. It is actually cold to the touch, almost no heat comes from the ballast. This is a huge plus in a room with many ballasts in a bank inside the room. The fan is a lil louder than my quantum ballast fan, but takes up half the space in my ballast bank and is tolerable for sure. I have a feeling im gonna be buying more of them soon. Just testing them out now Now if it will make it thru a couple runs it will be well worth it.
