I think other reviewers may have thought the back was the front.1) In my opinion for it to be "covert" the back is where space is, see PICTURE 1....that is what you attach to the wall.2) The finished side is indeed finished and it is what faces out. See PICTURE 2.3) I added an RFID lock to it. Bought on Amazon. This is compared to others I have seen all over $130.00. I would highly recommend purchasing a set of quality toggle bolts and a set of four lag bolts for wood.
