If you add about a pound of chicken or whatever substitute (tofu?) You can make pretty good serving sizes. We serve it over basmati rice. I've also tried adding a small can of tomato sauce, a chopped onion, or some cream, and making it stretch out more. **Q: solid or liquid?** A: This is a thick paste, almost solid. It does break down in water, but I usually warm it in the pan with ghee to break it up and get the spices going before I add the meat and water. **Q: Where is ingredient list?** A: It's on the back of the package: Tomato paste, onions, sunflower oil, garlic, spices, skimmed milk powder, salt, ginger, milk, cream powder, sugar and spice extract (paprika oleoresin). I can make my own paneer and then use this paste along with my choice of vegetables. I could never achieve the right blend of spices on my own. These packets have the perfect flavor. They are slightly spicy, which I like, but is a bit too hot for my spouse. Adding some cream cools down the heat level.
