I SAID they would be great for me for malts etc. Just not for someone without muscle control as my brother has with the lost of his jaw bone.The product it's self is wonderful for smoothies, malts etc.No problem with the product its self,just didn't help my brother which was why I purchased in the first place. I just did not realize how that width would feel as I drank my smoothie. It felt really too big, to me. That may not be an issue for you. If not, you will probably love these.UPDATE 5/17/14: I changed from 3 to 5 stars after using these for a few months. At first, they felt really weird because of their size. I continued to use them because they cost more than I was willing to just throw in the trash. I must say, I've gotten used to the size, and now I really do like them. Smoothies flow through these with no problem at all. No having to make your cheeks sore, trying to get the smoothie to your mouth. I encourage anyone who drinks smoothies to give these a try. Yes, they at first seem a little pricey for straws. However, they are so sturdy they can actually be washed and used again, if you are so inclined.
