The first thing you notice is that it barely heats up. But inside the greenhouse it raises the temperature about 5 degrees. Seeds are germinating; so I am assuming the mat is doing its job.As strange (and illegal??) as it might seem; nowhere in the box or mat states the power consumption (nor current). Someone in the QA section has placed a tester and determined that it consumes 17 Watts. To determine how much your electric bill will go up; here is a guide: 17 Watts x 720 hours (amount of hours in a month) = 12,240 watts hour or the way you utilities company charges you 12.2 Kwh. Now multiply 12.2 Kwh by your cost per Kwh (look at your bill). In my case I pay 10c per Kwh. So my mat is costing me 12.2 Kwh x 10 cents per Kwh = $1.22 per month to operate. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ great for keeping my kombucha brews warm *by S***L on Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2015* This has worked nicely for me and my mini basement kombucha operation this summer. I wanted to be able to keep an even temp within optimal range, and it has been doing great. It has maintained an 80-82 degree fahrenheit temp in the basement, which stays around 70. So, about 10 degrees above room temp. I haven't purchased a thermostat to go with it- no need at least for my purposes! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 98 - 105 temp range w/ even distribution. The ones I've purchased from other manufacturers get a little hotter at a range of 105 - 112. Something to keep in mind if every degree counts. For me, it just means that instead of putting a thin cover over the mat, I lay things directly on top of it. I've washed these down with no problem.
