I love fedoras and it is sometimes hard to get the right fit. Sometimes it's impossible to get the right fit. This is super easy to use. It comes assembled with a rubber band on it to keep it together. Keep that rubber band on there. You'll notice that they included an extra rubber band. Keep that one, too. You'll need it when the first one wears out. I own 22 fedoras, most of which I ordered on Amazon, and like most clothing that's not tailored to fit, some were a little tight. I put this thing inside of the hat, right where the hatband is, and just twisted it to open it up so it would stretch the fabric. I didn't have to leave it in there for long - maybe ten minutes - and the hat fit. If it was still too tight I would just stretch it again. It's better to have to stretch it again that it is to over stretch it and make it too big. I probably stretched 10 hats in one evening. This may seem expensive. You might want to say "that costs more than the hat I bought." But think about the fact that it is very well made, no sharp edges and will last a very long time. Ten fedoras at let's say $20 each is $200. That's $200 worth of hats I didn't have to send back because they were too tight. I wish I had known about this earlier because I would have bought it. I keep mine in the box it came in so I don't lose the extra rubber band. Have a leather dress hat (wide brim) that has become a bit tight over time. Just don’t tighten it too much (at a time) & give the hat some time to adjust. Very happy with this purchase. I have a number of hats in my collection (~ 15, or so), and this stretcher should be able to keep them usable for some time to come.
