Can a gymnast apply it to her bar grips?

I think it could be worth a try. I do apply it directly to a metal pull up bar or to a kettlebell handle if I am doing a long workout and want some extra chalk as a base layer.

How do you wash it off?

Comes off very easy in the sink. Soap and water. It becomes like regular chalk and wears off eventually.

My hands get extremely sweaty when I exercise. It's particularly a problem when rowing. Will this product help prevent blisters from the oar handles?

It will help, but it will not completely prevent blisters. I personally use this for kettlebell swings where there is similar friction between the hand and the handle/oar. It helps me reduce the likelihood of developing a blister. Regards, Ethan Fire Team Fit
