Just learning one key concept you did not realize about JAE is sufficient to justify buying this book, like when you can use JAE and when you cannot, thus requiring the more comprehensive Manual J. You can tell by reading this book that the author has been there and is very familiar with the subject from a background of use not just theory and you can gain from his experience. The whole J, D, T, and S methodology is really just the automation of the same methods of HVAC design we used in the old days, when tedious calculations and attention to detail were required. The associated Excel forms and/or a computer program can help organize your efforts.
