Upon receipt my impression was that of solid fit and build. Bringing them on line I found them almost unlistenable, even when used with one of my dongle DAC's (iFi GO Link, Questyle M15i). The high end attack was piercing and the sound lacked overall smoothness and cohesiveness. So, plug them in, leave them online and walk away overnight. Coming back, the improvement was great. The highs were moderated and everything was starting to pull together. Now, with probably 40-50 hours of listening, the wait is worth it! Outstanding clarity and separation. It's a clinical sound, not booming, but with plenty of bass when called for. The soundstage is remarkably deep. In comparison with other headphones, my venerable AKG K701's (which as I write this are available on desertcart for $235.95, which is an outstanding value), and Sony WH-1000XM4's (wired, without ANC turned on), I gravitate toward these Austrian Audio's for relaxed, long term listening. Well first of all they are proprietary and that is where the nightmare began. desertcart didn't carry them. After numerous back and both emails to Austria, initially dealing with a series of robo messages, after about a week I got a real person to respond who toward they have two main stocking dealers in the U.S. and gave me them. Ok, neither one carried the 9 ft. Austrian cables. After about another week of email exchanges, with Austria I was told their U.S. Distributor carried the cables, but they wouldn't tell who that was, what????? This is an added note from several months after I wrote this review. Austrian Audio now appears to have the 9'10" extended cords available a few places, the downside, they are $ 36.00 !! a good quality 10' cord for any other brand, between $5.00 and $10.00. Austrian Audio? A truly dismal purchase. My suggestion, don't bother buying from these clowns, there are many very, very good, and well supported headphones available from solid companies. I have a large head, and I'm bald, these headphones are still comfortable for hours of listening. The sound quality is also quite good at this price point.
