The cable was long enough to run from upstairs to downstairs and the signal never cuts off since the cameras are wired into the DVR. I'm considering getting some IP cameras since this system has the support for it. I was able to set everything up on the DVR using an old VGA computer monitor I had lying around. I use the mobile app to watch footage or scope out the live view and it works quite well.
