These were my 2 newest and most powerful with video cards. Here is my setup at home in my garage; a 7' x 9' net and a artificial grass hitting mat. I have the PC on a cart right to the left of the mat. When I first starting trying to play I was using the driving range and could not figure out how to set it up to repeat shots with the same club. I sent an email to Brian the sales manager and he responded within hours and resolved my issue. My next issue was that it was taking more than 30 seconds after hitting the ball for it to display on the screen with the shot data. After trying changing some settings in the software which did not resolve the problem, Brian sent me a new sensor (part that mounts on the bracket on your golf shaft). This new sensor works great. It will occasionally miss a shot, maybe one out of 50. This is absolutely no problem.Here is an issue that I haven't been able to resolve yet. The R-Motion calculates the distance of the shot based upon the angle of the club which is a fixed value which you input in the golf club settings and the length you put in from the ground to the sensor position on the shaft. Other factors are based on the sensor data such as club speed and impact angles. Based upon my past experience with my 7 iron, I assume a typical distance (total) of 135 to 140 yards. I adjusted the length setting for the 7 iron until I was getting 135 to 140 yards. After determining this value I adjusted by 1/2" up or down for the rest of my irons. So I then went to a driving range to try to check the actual distances with my clubs. The range didn't have grass, it was a sandy dirt (Arizona) and I could not see any of my shots landing past 100 yards. That didn't help at all. The next driving range had grass but I still couldn't see my ball landing past 100 yards. I then tried a PGA store with a launch monitor for 30 minutes. I got 3 records on my first 3 shots and then when I changed irons I struggled with trying to figure out how to set the machine. There was no attendant there so I wasted my $10 and got no good information.I've played 4 actual rounds in the past 6 weeks, my first rounds in 23 years, and find that my iron distances with a good hit are close enough to what I see with the R-Motion.For the past 3 weeks I've been getting into playing some of the courses in the simulator. There are 15 courses standard with the software. Two issues with some of the courses. First, some of the courses have slopes on the putting greens and I don't know how to adjust my putt to compensate. If the slope is to the right I've aimed to the left but it doesn't change the outcome. The second issue is that I mentioned before concerning 135-140 yards with my 7 iron. On some of the courses where the shot is calling for a 7 iron, the results come out shorter than what I get on the driving range. Fortunately you can redo the shot. This is somewhat frustrating.Overall I can say that the R-Motion has been responsible for my getting my golf swing back after not playing for 23 years. It has verified that I get my weight forward when making my swing. For example my 7 iron has a 30 degree angle and when I hit my shot the launch angle is typically 19 to 20 degrees. The other big help is that it displays swing path and club head angles at impact. I've always had an over the top issue with my swing and since I now can see the angles after making a shot I am in the process of correcting this problem.In summary, although I don't think the results are as accurate as a launch monitor such as SC-200, it has so many other useful tools such as displaying your ball flight, the ability to play on courses, and angles of clubhead at impact, that I would highly recommend this R-Motion unit for anyone who is a beginner or anyone such as myself getting back into playing after a long absence.Bob Miller ### ⭐ 1.0 out of 5 stars BEWARE! Undeveloped Software, Questionable Swing Results, Poor Website Support, Pitiful Instructions, Waste of Time & Money. *by T***T on Reviewed in the United States on July 14, 2018* First, I'm 64 years old, been playing golf since I was 15. I've been working with computers and software since 1985, DOS 2.0. As for R-Motion, I'm into my 2nd day with this product, and it's been nothing but frustration. The product is not fully developed and I recommend you not waste your $300 on it at this time. There are many problems with it. I will try to explain a few. It will only run on a system with a graphics card that supports DirectX 11 - anything less and you get nothing. The software has 3 different executables, two must be downloaded- and installed. The Golf Club setup program is 1.66GB. The actual hardware you get is next to nothing - some plastic clips, one small device with a circuit board containing some cheap motion sensor ICs and a Bluetooth transponder. The current R-Motion software will have issues with Windows 8. I'm trying it on Windows 8.1 Pro. Rapsodo is the name of the company. They recommend Windows 10. There's not much difference between the two OS's, but apparently, they are developing it on Windows 10. On my first round of installs, I could get the R-Motion to run but from inside that program you are to launch The Golf Club software (you get a limited free license but you can't find the key). I had repeated failure to launch TGC with an error involving a 3rd program named The Golf Club Simulator (see screenshots). Over 2 days of trying to get it to work, I managed to have one session of playing. Here's how I got around the error: I uninstalled R-Motion, reinstalled it, and it worked. The next day, with nothing changing whatsoever, I launched the R-Motion again, then it failed on the TGC portion like it did the first time. I uninstalled, and reinstalled, but this time, that didn't work. It is failing. I had high hopes for this product and really wanted it to work and replace my Optishot 2 simulator. I had been playing the Optishot flawlessly for nearly a year and finally wore it out. Thinking R-Motion would be a good move, I bought it. Now I'm sitting here, $300 out of pocket, with the worst product experience I've ever had in my life. That's not an exaggeration. This isn't all the issues, either. I noticed yesterday when I did get it to work that TGC software had no instructions. You're left to figure it out on your own. And while each swing produces a plethora of information on the screen, most of it is poppycock. It would be impossible for this little 1" x 0.5" x 0.5" sensing device to measure all the stats it displays. Don't be fooled, software can make you believe anything. As for the Rapsodo R-Motion website, the experience is like 56K dial-up modem. I can't believe a company has their website on such a slow web server. Try it, you'll see. Open a few links. It's bad, real bad. When the pages do finally open, after 10-15 seconds, there's hardly any useful information. I could go on railing on this product, but I'll leave it here for now. I think TGC program is worth it, but coupled with R-Motion, it's very misleading in what it renders. I've included 3 screenshots - 1st is R-Motion program, 2nd is after you click play, 3rd is the error that I have gotten repeatedly for 2 days now; only once managed to coax it into working. I don't know if I'm stuck with this product or if I can get a refund. I wish I'd just stuck with Optishot2. It is accurate and realistic, it just doesn't work with my Taylormade RBZ driver or 3-wood. I was happy to just hit irons on the range with it and it did render very descent results (without the 2-second delay like the R-Motion). ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Love my R-motion *by B***B on Reviewed in Canada on February 5, 2020* Great product for the price.The PC app is a lot of fun to play. It took a lot of tweaking and online research to get it to where it was reasonably accurate and useful.I regularly play on much more expensive indoor golf simulators at local indoor golf facilities. ALL of these systems have their limitations and can be frustrating at times.R-motion is very effective at measuring swing path and club face position at impact. It has definitely helped in this area of my game. Note: You must start your swing with the club face square behind the ball (the only way it can know that you squared up your club face at impact). It will not recognize thin shots or shanks, so some shots will turn out better than they should.It will occasionally miss-read or totally miss a shot. This happens with any simulator I have ever used regardless of price. Probably happens once or twice a round with R-motion. Just “rewind” the shot and go again.Advice: Throw out the clips. Buy some poster tack and use that to stick the sensor to your clubs. Works great!Initially, distances seemed off. Followed advice of others and adjusted club lengths until distances were more accurate.All things considered, the PC app is great value for money.
