It allows my wife to feel comfortable on or near the beach, and it gives me a sneak peak of what i am about to enjoy in the bedroom. I don't think this cover was originally intended as lingerie, but it some ways the "mystery" of what is underneath makes it more alluring than more explicit bedroom attire. I particularly like the way my wife's nipples are visible through the fabric and are trying to burst through. Pretty sexy. Added a couple of weeks later: A couple of weeks after I wrote this I came home one day only to find my wife wearing this thing while working in the kitchen. I quickly noticed that she didn't have anything else on underneath. I was pretty sure we would end up in the bedroom, and that's exactly what happened after showering together. Added a couple of months later: My wife finally had an occasion to use this as an actual bikini cover-up. What I noticed is that it does a good job covering the bottom, but not the top. Personally, I loved this, but as we walked through a hotel lobby on the way to the pool, I couldn't help notice that my wife's breasts were commanding a lot of attention, probably more than she figured on.
